Tamed by Emma Chase (Audio Edition)

Narrated by Deacon Lee
Tangled Series #3

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ I quite enjoyed this book. Matthew is a sweet stand up guy and I am glad I got to know him. I laughed out loud more than once while listening and  this story left me with a warm happy feeling.  I thought Dee and Matthew were a good match. He was patient and open with her, knowing she'd been hurt before. I liked that Dee was a strong, feisty honest woman, and I really liked that she decided to trust. I do not enjoy story that draw out a misunderstanding to great lengths.. which to be honest is why I skipped reading the second book of this series, (just from the reviews.. I am not looking for that kind of story right now) anyway missing that book didn't seem to affect this story at all which is good.

Deacon Lee at first after listening to Sebastian York, he seemed to read/speak quite quickly. However, I came to enjoy his voice and felt he portrayed Matthew very well. I would listen to more books read by him.

Here's the blurb:

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before: girl meets player, they fall in love, player changes his ways.

It’s a good story. But it’s not our story. Ours is a lot more colorful.

When I met Dee I knew right away that she was special. When she met me, she thought I was anything but special--I was exactly like every other guy who’d screwed her over and let her down. It took some time to convince her otherwise, but turns out I can make a convincing argument when sex is at stake.

You might know where this story’s headed. But the best part isn't where we ended up.

It’s how we got there.

Tamed goes back in time to the Tangled days. But this time around, it’s not Drew dishing out the advice and opinions – it’s his best friend Matthew, who of course is dealing with Dee Dee.

Holy Frigging Matrimony by Emma Chase (Audio Edition)

Narrated by Sebastian York
Tangled series #1.5

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ This was super short but well done. A nice little addition to Tangled. Like an extra epilogue. Drew cracks me up. Sebastian York reads him perfectly.

The Blurb:

What does Drew Evans have to say next? Find out in this forty page short story, filled with his sexy charm, unique advice and hilarious one-liners.

Marriage: the final frontier. Steven went first. He was kind of our test subject. Like those monkeys that NASA sent off into space in the fifties, all the while knowing they’d never make it back.

And now another poor rocket is ready to launch.

But this isn’t just any posh New York wedding. You’ve seen my friends, you’ve met our families, you know you're in for a treat. Everyone wants their wedding to be memorable. This one’s going to be un-frigging-forgettable.

Holy Frigging Matrimony takes place about a year after Tangled’s end and is from Drew’s POV.

Amazon ** Paperback

ABOUT UNCHAINED:

PROMETHEUS – One of the keenest Titans to ever walk the earth. Until, that is, his weakness for the human race resulted in his imprisonment.

For thousands of years, Prometheus’s only certainty was his daily torture at Zeus’s hand. Now, unchained by the Eternal Guardians, he spends his days in solitude, trying to forget the past. He’s vowed no allegiance in the war between mortal and immortal, but when a beautiful maiden seeks him out and begs for his help, he’s once again powerless to say no.

Soon, Prometheus is drawn into the very conflict he swore to avoid, and, to save the maiden’s life, he must choose sides. But she has a secret of her own, and if Prometheus doesn’t discover what she’s hiding in time, the world won’t simply find itself embroiled in a battle between good and evil, it will fall in total domination to Prometheus’s greatest enemy.

Excerpt:

“Who are you? And how did you get here?”
This was where she needed to be careful. Circe slowly pushed to her feet and brushed the thick curls over her shoulder. If he suspected too much, all her efforts would be for naught. She had to play this cool, had to stick to the plan, had to wait for just the right moment to strike.
“My name is Keia.” Not entirely a lie, she figured. For thousands of years, humans had called her a goddess pharmakeia, which was just a fancy nickname for witch or sorceress. She was simply borrowing from that label. “But I am not here. I am only an apparition.”
“I don’t believe you.” Prometheus stalked forward. He reached out to grab her but his wide palm and long fingers passed through nothing but air.
His hazel eyes widened as he looked from his hand back to her. “What the hell?”
He was only a few inches taller than her nearly seven feet, but he was bigger everywhere. A wall of solid steel that stood between her and eternity. Power radiated from his broad shoulders and chiseled muscles. A power that made her heart beat faster and her blood warm in a way it hadn’t done in ages.
His dark hair was cut short, his jaw strong and square and covered by three days worth of stubble that made him look both dangerous and sexy. He was thousands of years old—like her—but he didn’t look a day over thirty. And when his eyes narrowed and his luscious lips thinned, she had an overwhelming urge to dive into his mouth to find out if he tasted as good as he looked.
“How did you find me?” he said. “What do you want with me?”
Circe blinked, his voice pulling her back to the moment. She’d not been sexually attracted to anyone in so long, she’d forgotten what that rush of excitement felt like. Then again, she’d not had the chance to be attracted to anyone. Zeus kept her locked up tight and had for way too long.
Focus. Sexy as hell you can use to your advantage.
She lifted a foot-long length of heavy chain. “Look familiar?”
His face paled as he looked at the chain Zeus had used to bind him to that rock. The rock where he’d been tortured daily by a giant eagle that had torn into his side and consumed his liver day after day. “Where did you get that?”
“Find me and I’ll tell you.”

My Review:
This story is about Prometheus and Circe. These two leads had good chemistry, I loved how Prometheus had been haunted by a seductive voice and dreamt about her often. Made it all that more heated when he finally found her! Zeus.. whoa.. His tortures, I thought were inventive, and a bit gruesome.   As always I enjoyed Naughton's writing. Even though I do wish this book was longer, there was still time enough for some passion, action and sweet, sweet revenge. I also enjoyed seeing snippets of the Argonauts.   The Eternal Guardians series is one of my favourites! If you haven't read it yet.. you should!  Even though this book is #8.5, it could also be read as a stand alone.   *I was given an arc in exchange for an honest review*

Excerpt-

“Find me. I’m waiting, Titos. I’m waiting for you...”

She always called him Titos in his hallucinations. A nickname that translated to fire. One that now brought him around to stare down the dark and empty hallway even though he knew she wasn’t real.

Nothing moved. No sound met his ears. The castle was as silent as it had been since the day he’d arrived. But his spine tingled with apprehension, and his god-sense, something he rarely relied on because no one knew where he was, shot a warning blare straight through his ears.

The witches in the valley at the base of Mt. Parnithia had told him this castle in the Argolean realm had once belonged to an evil sorcerer who’d chosen darkness over light. That sorcerer’s quest for power had cost him his life, and he now resided in the lowest levels of Tartarus, tortured endlessly by Hades much as Prometheus had been tortured by Zeus. His energy still lingered, though. A vile and murky energy Prometheus felt vibrating in his bones. As a divine being, Prometheus wasn’t worried that energy would claim him—he was too strong for that—but he couldn’t help but wonder if the sorcerer’s dark energy was somehow affecting him. Could it be the source of the voice?

“Titos... I’m waiting...”

“Who’s there?” he called.

Silence met his ears. His pulse ticked up as he scanned the darkened corridor, the only light coming from the torch behind him. Still nothing moved. Even the wind outside the castle walls had died down as if it too were afraid to utter a sound.

His imagination. It had to be. A hallucination or whatever the fuck he wanted to call it. Frowning, he turned away only to catch a flash of white out of the corner of his eye.

He whipped back. Some kind of gauzy fabric disappeared into the library, followed by the sound of laughter.

Sexy, feminine laughter.

Tangled by Emma Chase (Audio Edition)

Narrated by Sebastian York
Tangled series #1

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ OH. WOW….. JUST. WOW!

I have not read anything by Emma Chase before, but if this is a sample of her regular work I will be diving into her backlist head first!!!!!

I LOVED that this book was from the hero's pov. He's funny, arrogant, charming, and when it comes right down to it, caring.  Sebastian York did a FANTASTIC job as the narrator.  He set the tone well, had Drew's attitude and arrogance down perfect and his voice…. Sigh… it was wonderful to listen to.

Kate was a strong, confident woman, with a great sense of humour. I loved how they bickered. You could feel the tension and passion constantly between them. Kate and Drew had combustible chemistry, and I stayed up WAY too late listening! This book had me laughing out loud often and I am putting it straight onto my favourites shelf!

In my opinion this book is a must read!!

Here's the blurb:

When rich, handsome, and arrogant meets beautiful, brilliant, and ambitious, things are bound to get tangled

Drew Evans makes multimillion-dollar business deals and seduces New York’s most beautiful women with just a smile. So why has he been shuttered in his apartment for seven days, miserable and depressed? He’ll tell you he has the flu, but we all know that’s not really true.

When Katherine Brooks is hired as the new associate at Drew’s father’s investment banking firm, every aspect of the dashing playboy’s life is thrown into a tailspin. The professional competition she brings is unnerving, his attraction to her is distracting, his failure to entice her into his bed is exasperating.

How can one woman turn a smooth-talking player into a broken, desperate man? By making the one thing he never wanted in life the only thing he can’t live without.

Once Upon A Marquess by Courtney Milan (Audio Edition)

Narrated by: Rosalyn Landor
The Worth Saga #1

♥ ♥ ♥ By the end of this book I started to enjoy it more. Early on however, I found it confusing and almost too full of conversation, which surprises me as the conversations are usually my favourite parts! These however, would go from past to present, to hypothetical all in the space of the same paragraph. Perhaps had I actually been reading it this wouldn’t have mattered, but while listening, I found it did.  The Narrator - who does a wonderful job any time I have listened to her in the past - seemed to read rather quickly, not “fast” as if I couldn’t understand the words, more like there was just an over abundance of them. And always repeating..  “It hurt .. for this reason, It hurt, for that reason, it hurt for more reasons.. “You must hate me … for this reason… you must hate me because… remember to hate me because.. Etc”  anyway I could go on and on but then I would be repeating…

The characters Judith and Christian were quirky, and unique. The storyline was pretty good, once you dug through all the excess stuff being discussed…  however it does end with a teeny cliffhanger, which I dislike. I have read one other book from this author and I enjoyed it. This book had soo many rave reviews, so I picked it up. I admit, I expected a lot better. Regardless of this book, I am sure I will try another of hers.

Here's the blurb:

The last man Judith Worth wants to see again is Charles Trent, the Marquess of Ashford—the man who spent summers at her family home, who kissed her one magical night…and then heartlessly ruined her father. But when a tricky business matter arises, he’s the only one she can ask for help. With any luck, he’ll engage a servant to take care of the matter, and she won’t even have to talk with him.

But Ashford has never forgotten Judith. He knows she will never forgive him for what he’s done, but when offered the chance to assist her, he arrives in person. His memory of Judith may have haunted him, but it pales in comparison to the reality of the vivacious, beautiful woman he rediscovers. Throughout his life, he has always done what is correct. But now, he finds himself doing something utterly wrong…falling in love with the one woman he can never have.

Don't Tempt Me by Lori Foster

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ This book left me with such a warm fuzzy feeling! The Guthrie brother's are one of a kind…  friendly caring, honest, funny, protective. They've got it all. Jason was very accepting of Honor right from the start. At times she felt a little naive to me, but at the same time she had her life focused elsewhere for so long. Which. for me explained it. Honor had a lot of personal stuff to work through.

The fact that Jason knows and accepts that he loves Honor early on in the story and is waiting and hoping for her to feel it back for him, is a nice change from reading the reverse. Usually I find this scenario happens most with the woman waiting and hoping.

And OMG! All that flirty tension was killing me!!!! Loved it! Lori Foster always writes fantastic chemistry!  The secondary story with Lexie and Sullivan was a great added bonus! Hogan cracked me up often, but I have to say though..Colt.. He's my favourite character. I really hope he gets himself a good story!  Can't wait for the next book.

*I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review*

This book is due for release: July 26th, 2016

Here's the blurb:

Love comes along when it's least wanted

Jason Guthrie has no time for entanglements—between helping out his widowed brother and teenage nephew and getting his hometown back on its feet, his days are spoken for. But his nights are another story… And when his lovely new neighbor, Honor Brown, reluctantly accepts his help in remodeling her house, Jason finds himself wishing his handyman skills could knock down the defenses she keeps building around herself.

Martial arts teacher Sullivan Dean knows real danger when he sees it—even when it takes the form of the gorgeous blonde helping her friend move in across the street. After putting his wayward past behind him to focus on teaching control to troubled kids, Sullivan has learned to avoid party girls like Lexie Perkins. But Sullivan can't seem to keep his hands off the real woman behind that flirty charm—or keep his heart from landing at her feet…

Anything For You by Kristan Higgins

Blue Heron #5

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ I have waited for Connor's story for what feels like forever!  I really wanted him to have his HEA. He's such a sweet caring guy, good sense of humour, a chef and successful business owner and great looking… the whole package… but he's only got eyes for this girl, that quite frankly, throughout this entire series, I have never really liked.

Yes, Jessica has had a rough life, and yes she's hard working, responsible and devoted to caring for her brother, I will give her that. However, she's so prideful and stubborn that she turns away help and breaks the heart of an awesome guy one too many times for my liking. It just makes me think she will just cut and run when the going gets tough… but maybe that's just me.

Aside from that, I loved the interactions between Connor and his sister Colleen. They always crack me up. The visit back to Blue Heron was a nice reminder of all the other characters as I really have enjoyed this series. Kristan Higgins is a wonderful writer.  I think I have a few more of her back list on my tbr shelf which is good, as I hate when I am update with a great author! Then it’s all patience, patience, patience as I wait for their new stuff!!!  Ha!

Here's the blurb:

Before you get down on bended knee…

…you should be pretty darn sure the answer will be yes. For ten years, Connor O'Rourke has been waiting for Jessica Dunn to take their on-again, off-again relationship public, and he thinks the time has come. His restaurant is thriving, she's got her dream job at Blue Heron Vineyard—it's the perfect time to get married.

When he pops the question, however, her answer is a fond but firm no. If it ain't broke, why fix it? Jess has her hands full with her younger brother, who's now living with her full-time, and a great career after years of waitressing. What she and Connor have is perfect: friends with an excellent benefits package. Besides, with her difficult past (and reputation), she's positive married life isn't for her.

But this time, Connor says it's all or nothing. If she doesn't want to marry him, he'll find someone who does. Easier said than done, given that he's never loved anyone but her. And maybe Jessica isn't quite as sure as she thinks…
