Burned by Karen Marie Moning (Audio Edition)

Narrated by Phil Gigante and Natalie Ross
Series: Fever book 7

♥ ♥ ♥ ½ - I wish there was more about Dani, I really miss her character. At chapter 6, it's all Mac and Barrons. Lots of description about Barrons’ bookstore and going over what happened to her in the previous books, which as I just reread them seems a bit much. That said, I am sure if you haven’t done a reread prior to these books, then this may be a needed refresher.

They have introduced Jada and I don’t like her much. She lacks the emotion and fiestyness that Dani had. I hope the author brings Dani back to be a main character in the story. I find it lacking without her. Other than that though the plot is getting interesting and some funky things are happening, I am looking forward to seeing what the next book brings.

The narrators did a wonderful job as usual!

The Blurb:

It’s easy to walk away from lies. Power is another thing.

MacKayla Lane would do anything to save the home she loves. A gifted sidhe-seer, she’s already fought and defeated the deadly Sinsar Dubh—an ancient book of terrible evil—yet its hold on her has never been stronger.

When the wall that protected humans from the seductive, insatiable Fae was destroyed on Halloween, long-imprisoned immortals ravaged the planet. Now Dublin is a war zone with factions battling for control. As the city heats up and the ice left by the Hoar Frost King melts, tempers flare, passions run red-hot, and dangerous lines get crossed.

Seelie and Unseelie vie for power against nine ancient immortals who have governed Dublin for millennia; a rival band of sidhe-seers invades the city, determined to claim it for their own; Mac’s former protégé and best friend, Dani “Mega” O’Malley, is now her fierce enemy; and even more urgent, Highland druid Christian MacKeltar has been captured by the Crimson Hag and is being driven deeper into Unseelie madness with each passing day. The only one Mac can depend on is the powerful, dangerous immortal Jericho Barrons, but even their fiery bond is tested by betrayal.

It’s a world where staying alive is a constant struggle, the line between good and evil gets blurred, and every alliance comes at a price. In an epic battle against dark forces, Mac must decide who she can trust, and what her survival is ultimately worth.

Iced by Karen Marie Moning (Audiobook)

Narrators: Phil Gigante and Natalie Ross
❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ After reading the first five books in the fever series the first time, I was really looking forward to Iced, as I loved Dani. However, when I realized she was still only 14 years old in the book, I didn't know what to think… cause well... this is an adult romance book. I also waited till all the books were out, as I hate waiting for the next in a series with cliffhangers. So the pressure was on!
I think Dani was written well, no totally creepy parts (some maybe could think so.. but nothing was taken too far, in my opinion.) I loved the pace, lots of action, and a bit of a mystery to solve…. sorta.    There was a wee bit of a cliffhanger, and I am looking forward to reading the next book. I think the two narrators did a wonderful job. I quite enjoy Ryodan and I love Christian. Hoping I see more of them.

The Blurb:

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Karen Marie Moning comes the first book in her hotly anticipated new urban paranormal trilogy, set in the world of her blockbuster Fever series.

The year is 1 AWC—After the Wall Crash. The Fae are free and hunting us. It’s a war zone out there, and no two days are alike. I’m Dani O’Malley, the chaos-filled streets of Dublin are my home, and there’s no place I’d rather be.

Dani “Mega” O’Malley plays by her own set of rules—and in a world overrun by Dark Fae, her biggest rule is: Do what it takes to survive. Possessing rare talents and the all-powerful Sword of Light, Dani is more than equipped for the task. In fact, she’s one of the rare humans who can defend themselves against the Unseelie. But now, amid the pandemonium, her greatest gifts have turned into serious liabilities.

Dani’s ex–best friend, MacKayla Lane, wants her dead, the terrifying Unseelie princes have put a price on her head, and Inspector Jayne, the head of the police force, is after her sword and will stop at nothing to get it. What’s more, people are being mysteriously frozen to death all over the city, encased on the spot in sub-zero, icy tableaux.

When Dublin’s most seductive nightclub gets blanketed in hoarfrost, Dani finds herself at the mercy of Ryodan, the club’s ruthless, immortal owner. He needs her quick wit and exceptional skill to figure out what’s freezing Fae and humans dead in their tracks—and Ryodan will do anything to ensure her compliance.

Dodging bullets, fangs, and fists, Dani must strike treacherous bargains and make desperate alliances to save her beloved Dublin—before everything and everyone in it gets iced.

Worth the Wait by Lori Foster

Series: Guthrie Brothers book 2
❤ ❤ 1/2  I was really looking forward to this book. I totally enjoyed the first and I loved the potential the other characters had for their own stories.
What worked for me:
  • ▪2 for 1 romance - Loved the side romance between Nathan and Brooklin. I actually liked it more than the leads.
  • ▪In the beginning both couples have witty banter and good chemistry.
  • ▪Loved Colt and his parts in this book
  • ▪Happy to see that some of the chemistry was back near the end of the book.
What didn't work for me:
  • ▪As soon as the lead couple had sex, the tension and chemistry seemed to get lost and they focused too much on worrying that perhaps their relationship was only just sex.
  • ▪Both men seemed a bit too overprotective, to the point that it makes the heroine seem like he thinks her an invalid.
  • ▪From about just over halfway till pretty much the last chapter, it was mostly sex scenes, or what seemed to be scenes put in place just to lead up to sex. Just lost interest and skimmed them.
I see there are a bunch of rave reviews for this book, so perhaps I am alone in my thoughts. For me, it was missing the tenderness and fluttery “romance" feels, that I look for.  That said, I am glad I finished the book, and honestly, if Colt gets his own story, I would like to read it.
**I received and ARC in exchange for an honest review**

Romancing Mister Bridgerton by Julia Quinn (Audio Edition)

Narrated by Rosalyn Landor
Series: Bridgertons, book 4

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ Colin and Penelope have a wonderful relationship. I enjoyed watching Colin fall in love with her. I love Lady Whistledown and Lady Danbury!.. Julia Quinn writes the best older “I-don't-care-what-anyone-thinks” type of ladies.  I do have to say though.. as this audiobook has the 2nd epilogue attached, if this were my first time reading this story I would prefer to wait to read all the 2nd epilogues, till after I had read the original 8 stories.   As some details for the next books in the series are given away.

Rosalyn Landor does a fantastic job on narration, as always!

The Blurb:

Everyone knows that Colin Bridgerton is the most charming man in London. Penelope Featherington has secretly adored her best friend's brother for...well, it feels like forever. After half a lifetime of watching Colin Bridgerton from afar, she thinks she knows everything about him, until she stumbles across his deepest secret...and fears she doesn't know him at all.

Colin Bridgerton is tired of being thought nothing but an empty-headed charmer, tired of everyone's preoccupation with the notorious gossip columnist Lady Whistledown, who can't seem to publish an edition without mentioning him in the first paragraph. But when Colin returns to London from a trip abroad he discovers nothing in his life is quite the same - especially Penelope Featherington! The girl haunting his dreams. But when he discovers that Penelope has secrets of her own, this elusive bachelor must she his biggest threat - or his promise of a happy ending?

The Duchess Deal by Tessa Dare (Audio Edition)

Narrated by Mary Jane Wells

Series: Girl Meets Duke, book 1

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ This book was FANTASTIC!! It was SUPER FUNNY and had me laughing within the first few paragraphs! The writing was superb, the use of uncommonly used words, in just the right spots made all the difference. The wounded/tortured hero is not my favourite plot line, as usually I find them too sulky or whiny. This book did not conform to that.  While Ash did sulk, he did so with flair and wit.

I loved how Ash was actually a good person, how he longs to love her..  and how sometimes he just can't stop himself from doing so- even when he tries to.  Emma was a strong leading lady, she stood up for what she wanted and didn't let Ash get away with anything. She kept pushing his boundaries and they had wonderful chemistry together.

The narration fantastic! Mary Jane Wells has a style all her own and pulls out the sarcastic wit that was needed for this audiobook to succeed!

I highly recommend this book and I am sad it is over…  because how will the next book I read compare?!?!

The Blurb:

When girl meets Duke, their marriage breaks all the rules…

Since his return from war, the Duke of Ashbury’s to-do list has been short and anything but sweet: brooding, glowering, menacing London ne’er-do-wells by night. Now there’s a new item on the list. He needs an heir—which means he needs a wife. When Emma Gladstone, a vicar’s daughter turned seamstress, appears in his library wearing a wedding gown, he decides on the spot that she’ll do.

His terms are simple:
- They will be husband and wife by night only.
- No lights, no kissing.
- No questions about his battle scars.
- Last, and most importantly… Once she’s pregnant with his heir, they need never share a bed again.

But Emma is no pushover. She has a few rules of her own:
- They will have dinner together every evening.
- With conversation.
- And unlimited teasing.
- Last, and most importantly… Once she’s seen the man beneath the scars, he can’t stop her from falling in love…

Waiting for an Earl Like you by Alexandra Hawkins

Series: Masters of Seduction, book 3

I did not finish this book. While in the beginning I found the story promising and even witty, it became confusing with each of the 5 characters being referred to by title, last name, relation to, or first name, all in the same scene and alternating which was used. I would like to try another book by this author however as I did see promise in the beginning.

I was provided an ARC in exchange for an honest review

The blurb:

Justin Reeve Netherwood, Earl of Kempthorn—a.k.a. Thorn—has never cared much for his neighbor’s daughter. But his twin brother, Gideon, befriended the wild, reckless, and wholly inappropriate Miss Olivia Lydall in youth, and two have been close ever since. So when Olivia finds herself in a state of romantic conflict and seeks out Gideon for advice, he’s only too pleased to oblige. Only problem: The man Olivia is speaking to is Thorn. And now it’s too late for him to tell Olivia the truth…

Thorn always believed that Olivia was too smitten with Gideon for her own good. So what’s the harm in steering her away from him? But Thorn’s charade turns out to be anything but harmless once he begins to see Olivia for who she really is: A woman full of spirit and passion…and someone he can’t live without. But how can Thorn claim Olivia’s heart when their deepening connection—and burning desire—is built on lies and deceit?

Secrets of a Summer Night by Lisa Kleypas (Audio Edition)

Narrated by Rosalyn Landor

Series: Wallflowers, Book 1

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ I think I enjoyed this more this time than I did the first time I read it. I love when the girls play rounders. I liked how Simon already knew what he wanted and set out about getting it. I think Annabelle was a strong woman and a good match for Simon.

Rosalyn Landor did a fantastic job on narration. Looking forward to listening to the rest of the series.

The Blurb:

Four young ladies at the side of the ballroom make a pact to help each other find husbands . . . no matter what it takes

Proud and beautiful Annabelle Peyton could have her pick of suitors—if only she had a dowry. Her family is on the brink of disaster, and the only way Annabelle can save them is to marry a wealthy man. Unfortunately her most persistent admirer is the brash Simon Hunt, a handsome and ambitious entrepreneur who wants her as his mistress.

Annabelle is determined to resist Simon's wicked propositions, but she can't deny her attraction to the boldly seductive rogue, any more than he can resist the challenge she presents. As they try to outmaneuver each other, they find themselves surrendering to a love more powerful than they could have ever imagined. But fate may have other plans—and it will take all of Annabelle's courage to face a peril that could destroy everything she holds dear.

An Offer from a Gentleman by Julia Quinn (Audio Edition) with 2nd Epilogue

Narrated by Rosalyn Landor
Series: Bridgertons, Book 3

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ A Cinderella story. I enjoyed this book even more the second time around. The added bonus of Posy’s story as the 2nd epilogue was a treat. Benedict and Sophie have wonderful chemistry together. I am looking forward to continuing my rereading of this series.

Rosalyn Landor did a fantastic job narrating as usual!

The Blurb:

Sophie Beckett never dreamed she'd be able to sneak into Lady Bridgerton's famed masquerade ball—or that "Prince Charming" would be waiting there for her! Though the daughter of an earl, Sophie has been relegated to the role of servant by her disdainful stepmother. But now, spinning in the strong arms of the debonair and devastatingly handsome Benedict Bridgerton, she feels like royalty. Alas, she knows all enchantments must end when the clock strikes midnight.
Who was that extraordinary woman? Ever since that magical night, a radiant vision in silver has blinded Benedict to the attractions of any other—except, perhaps, this alluring and oddly familiar beauty dressed in housemaid's garb whom he feels compelled to rescue from a most disagreeable situation. He has sworn to find and wed his mystery miss, but this breathtaking maid makes him weak with wanting her. Yet, if he offers her his heart, will Benedict sacrifice his only chance for a fairy tale love?

Lost and Found Sisters by Jill Shalvis

Series: Wildstone Book 1

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ I quite enjoyed this story. I was hesitant because there was talk of her writing a different type of book but this was very much a Shalvis book and I wasn't disappointed.  Mick and Quinn were great together. I enjoyed watching Quinn work through her new relationship with Tilly. There were some good laughs and some touching moments.  I happily recommend this book.

The Blurb:

From New York Times bestselling author Jill Shalvis comes her first women's fiction novel—an unforgettable story of friendship, love, family, and sisterhood—perfect for fans of Colleen Hoover, Susan Mallery, and Kristan Higgins.

They say life can change in an instant…

After losing her sister in a devastating car accident, chef Quinn Weller is finally getting her life back on track. She appears to have it all: a loving family, a dream job in one of L.A.'s hottest eateries, and a gorgeous boyfriend dying to slip an engagement ring on her finger. So why does she feel so empty, like she's looking for a missing piece she can't find?

The answer comes when a lawyer tracks down Quinn and reveals a bombshell secret and a mysterious inheritance that only she can claim. This shocking revelation washes over Quinn like a tidal wave. Her whole life has been a lie.

On impulse, Quinn gives up her job, home, and boyfriend. She heads up the coast to the small hometown of Wildstone, California, which is just a few hours north, but feels worlds apart from Los Angeles. Though she doesn't quite fit in right away, she can't help but be drawn to the town’s simple pleasures…and the handsome, dark-haired stranger who offers friendship with no questions asked.

As Quinn settles into Wildstone, she discovers there's another surprise in store for her. The inheritance isn't a house or money, but rather something earthshattering, something that will make her question everything she thought she knew about herself, about her family. Now with a world of possibilities opening up to Quinn, she must decide if this new life is the one she was always meant to have—and the one that could finally give her the fulfillment she's searched so long for.

Again the Magic by Lisa Kleypas (Audio Edition)

Narrated by Rosalyn Landor
Series: Wallflowers Book 0

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ I enjoyed the chemistry between Aileen and MacKenna however the reason for her sending him away the second time was a bit too drawn out for me. I wish that had happened sooner. I also enjoyed the secondary romance that happens. It was like a 2 for 1 story which was great.  I am looking forward to rereading the next books in the series. I hadn't read this book before and it was a good addition, I think.

Rosalyn Landor did a fantastic job narrating as usual.

The Blurb:

She gave him her innocence…

Lady Aline Marsden was brought up for one reason: to make an advantageous marriage to a member of her own class. Instead, she willingly gave her innocence to John McKenna, a servant on her father's estate. Their passionate transgression was unforgivable—John was sent away, and Aline was left to live in the countryside... an exile from London society.

...and he took her love.

Now McKenna has made his fortune, and he has returned—more boldly handsome and more mesmerizing than before. His ruthless plan is to take revenge on the woman who shattered his dreams of love. But the magic between them burns as bright as ever. And now he must decide whether to let vengeance take its toll…or risk everything for his first, and only, love.

Nuts by Alice Clayton (Audio Edition)

Narrated by Shayna Thibodeaux, Sebastian York
Series: The Hudson Valley Series, Book 1

♥ ♥ ♥  I had this book in my tbr list for a while and i had read loads of good reviews. The narrator sounded good when I listened to the sample and she was good, and one of main reasons I kept listening. However the book was less than I hoped. There were just SOOO many food descriptions, at some points it even felt like the author was describing her descriptions. Too many double entendres as well.  I like a good play on words when sprinkled throughout the story, but these were a bit heavy for me.  Perhaps it was just the mood I was in.

I wasn't feeling the chemistry between the leads until ¾’s of the way in.. then the story totally changed. I felt some emotion, some of the good tension and butterflies, it was all there. So the book ended on a good note, which was nice. Even though, I wished this had happened earlier in the book for me.

Also, only the epilogue is from Leo’s pov. I would have loved to see more of his thoughts.

The Blurb:

Roxie Callahan is a private chef to some of Hollywood’s wealthiest, and nastiest, calorie-counting wives. After a dairy disaster implodes her carefully crafted career in one fell ploop, she finds herself back home in upstate New York, bailing out her hippie mother and running the family diner.

When gorgeous local farmer Leo Maxwell delivers her a lovely bunch of organic walnuts, Roxie wonders if a summer back home isn’t such a bad idea after all. Leo is heavily involved in the sustainable slow food movement, and he likes to take his time. In all things. Roxie is determined to head back to the west coast as soon as summer ends, but will the pull of lazy fireflies and her very own Almanzo Wilder be enough to keep her home for good?

Salty. Spicy. Sweet. Nuts. Go on, grab a handful.

Moonlight on Nightingale Way by Samantha Young (Audio Edition)

Narrated by Elle Newlands
Series: On Dublin Street Book 6

♥ ♥ ♥ ½ The book was good, but I found it overly dramatic. Perhaps it was just the mood I was in. Logan and Grace had good chemistry which was great. Logan was a decent character, however I found Grace sorta… meh. I did enjoy the epilogues that gave us updates from all the other stories in the series.

The narrator did a good job, she had a variety of voices which allowed me to differentiate between the characters.

The Blurb:

Logan from Echoes of Scotland Street is back with his own smoldering story, as the New York Times bestselling On Dublin Street series returns…

Logan spent two years paying for the mistakes he made. Now, he’s ready to start over. He has a great apartment, a good job, and plenty of women to distract him from his past. And one woman who is driving him to distraction…

Grace escaped her manipulative family by moving to a new city. Her new life, made to suit her own needs, is almost perfect. All she needs to do is find her Mr. Right—or at least figure out a way to ignore her irresistible yet annoying womanizer of a neighbor.

Grace is determined to have nothing to do with Logan until a life-changing surprise slowly begins turning the wild heartbreaker into exactly the kind of strong, stable man she’s been searching for. Only just when she begins to give into his charms, her own messy past threatens to derail everything they’ve worked to build…

The Cad and the Co-ed by LH Cosway & Penny Reid (Audio Edition)

Narrated by George Allan, KC Sheridan
Series: Rugby Book 3

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ This may be my favourite of the series.. though I think that was in large part to the fantastic job the narrators did.  Even though George Allen narrated the other books, he really pulled out all the stops on this one. I felt all the feels, desperation, longing, heartache, love.
What a great end to the trilogy!

The Blurb:

Keeping a secret this big is going to take lots of balls. Specifically, rugby balls.

Bryan Leech is a cad.
Or, he *was* a cad.
No one is quite certain.

Once the quintessential playboy, Bryan claims he’s done with wild parties and weekend benders. No more one night stands leading to mornings he can’t remember; no more binges and blackouts; no more exploits plastered all over the tabloids and rag sheets. According to Bryan, he’s cleaning up his act.

The only problem is, no one believes him.

Eilish Cassidy never thought she’d be a mother at nineteen or still in college at twenty-four. Cut off from every member of her family except her favorite cousin, she’s finally managed put her life back together. Stronger and wiser, Eilish enters her last semester of university determined to stand on her own. Now she just needs to find an internship.

The only problem is, her best option—by far—places her directly in the path of her son’s father, and he doesn’t remember her at all.

Bryan is determined to prove he’s changed. Eager to settle down with the right woman, he’s got his sights set on the gorgeous redhead who seems terribly familiar.

Eilish is determined to hide her secret. She’ll do anything to keep her child safe, even if that means ignoring her own wishes and desires.

But what happens when Bryan starts to remember? And what will it take for Bryan to convince the girl he forgot that she’s unforgettable?

The Player and the Pixie by LH Cosway & Penny Reid (Audio Edition)

Narrated by George Allan, KC Sheridan
Series: Rugby Book 2

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ I was hesitant to read this book as I really dislike cheaters/people who sleep with someone else's spouse etc.. so when I saw this book was about “Sleazy Sean” I didn't bother with it… flash forward some months, to me remembering how much I enjoyed the first book by these authors, as well as the narrator's lilting accent.. and forgetting why I hadn't read this book… I downloaded it from audible.

I am so glad I did! Lucy and Sean were very interesting characters. Both having issues in their lives that were difficult, yet they accepted each other and work together well. I loved that the hero needed to learn some stuff in the bedroom, and that he was willing to learn, not just an egotistical self centered player. (We don't get many of these in this genre) Lucy was funny, sassy and unique. I just Loved her! Their chemistry together was awesome! I didn't want to put it down.  Also for those out there who don’t like cheaters either.. This is safe for you to read.

Both narrators did a wonderful job and I am looking forward to the next book in this series!

The Blurb:

How can someone so smokin’ hot be so bad in bed? I mean, Sean Cassidy is absolute rubbish. RUBBISH. He is the epitome of walking, talking false advertising and I want a refund! Plus he’s an arsehole. So… what is wrong with me that I can’t stop thinking about him?

Lucy Fitzpatrick doesn’t like rugby.
As the little sister of Ireland’s most infamous rugby player, Lucy can’t seem to escape the championship-sized shadow cast by her big brother, or her mother’s frequent attempts to micromanage her future. Her rainbow hair is as free-spirited as her quest for inner peace, yet overbearing expectations keep bringing her down. And when she’s down, her compulsive little problem lands her in seriously big trouble.

Sean Cassidy is a cold-hearted brute… or so he’s been told. Frequently. By everyone.
His blonde locks, baby blues, and rock hard bod make ladies the world over drool with desire. As the rugby world’s second most infamous player, he should be basking in his success. But Sean has never been content settling for second place, and his frequent confrontations with Lucy’s big brother leave him cold. And when he’s cold, his compulsive little problem lands him in the lap of Lucy Fitzpatrick.

Sean has a problem only Lucy can solve. Lucy has a problem only Sean can fix. The solution seems obvious: you scratch my back, and I’ll bail you out of jail. But when their business arrangement unexpectedly leaves Sean scorching hot and Lucy on the precipice of inner peace, can they convince the world—and Lucy’s big brother in particular—that this is the real deal?

Either way, both the Player and the Pixie are about to teach each other some pretty monumental lessons about family, life, but most importantly, love.
